Batavia – Freda H. Churchill, 80, of Batavia, passed away Wednesday, (April 23, 2014) at her home, in Batavia, under the care of Hospice and her loving family. Mrs. Churchill was born December 5, 1933 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Fred E. and Lorraine (Ellis) Hale. She was a member of Oakfield-Alabama Baptist Church, an avid bowler and a devout football fan. Her favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys and the Buffalo Bills; in that order. She will be remembered as a strong, active woman who marched to the beat of her own drum. She is the wife of the late Donald H. Churchill who passed away July 29, 2013. Freda is survived by her daughters, Chris Churchill of Stuart, Fl, Vicky Churchill of Buffalo, and Charley (Jim) Northup of Byron; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Theresa Roberts of Jupiter, FL; a sister-in-law, Marjorie (Richard) Walls of Elba. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Along with her husband, she is preceded in death by a grandson, Jayson Sullivan. Honoring Freda’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made the Crossroads House, PO Box 403, Batavia, NY 14021. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Cary Cemetery, Oakfield.
