Batavia – Alice June Bennett, 81, of Batavia, a Registered Nurse at Genesee County Nursing Home, died Monday, May 19, 2014 at Crossroads House in Batavia. Mrs. Bennett was born June 4, 1932 in Buffalo, the daughter of the late Walter Whitcomb and Edith Dietschler Whitcomb Walker. She graduated from GCC’s Nursing Program, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pavilion. She was active Salvation Army Ladies Auxiliary and she very much enjoyed her family, working with the elderly, crafts and was an avid reader. Her husband, Cecil Leslie Bennett, died March 26, 2008. Survivors include 5 children, Susan Hensley of Attica, Cynthia (Edward) Weas of Hanover, PA, John (late Lisa) Bennett of Mountain View, WY, Julie Bennett of Springfield, MO and Steven (Ann) Bennett of East Bethany; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and several cousins. Friends may call on Wednesday from 3 to 6 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co, Inc., 403 E. Main St., Batavia. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Pavilion, 10955 S. Lake Road, Pavilion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crossroads House, P.O. Box 403, Batavia, NY 14021. Burial will be in East Bethany Cemetery, Bethany.
