Trinity, Florida – Mrs. Barbara Wescott Bradley, 58, of Trinity, a custom team purchasing specialist for Hit Promotional Products in Largo, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at her home under the care of Hph Hospice and her loving family. Mrs. Bradley was born February 15, 1956 in Olean, a daughter of the late Fred T. and Dorothy A. Calhoon Wescott. She was a member of Generations Christian Church in Trinity. Her husband, Ronald W. Bradley, passed away on January 21, 2008. She is survived by her sons, William L. Verney of Buffalo, Robert D. Verney of Odessa, Florida and Brian P. Verney, Sr. of Trinity, Florida; her step-daughter, Amy L. Verney Draiss of Schenectady; two grandsons, Brian P. Verney, Jr. of Trinity, Florida and Brayden D. Verney of Odessa, Florida; three brothers, Timothy J. (Carol) Wescott and Thomas (Diane) Wescott, both of Batavia and David (Virginia) Wescott of Midlothian, Virginia; her sister, Carolyn R. Wescott of Clifton Springs and eight nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Batavia -Elba Robert A. Goff, 84, of Batavia, formerly of Elba, died Friday, January 16, 2015 at United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia. Mr. Goff was born April 7, 1930 in Canandaigua, the son of the late Almon and Catherine C. (Smith) Goff. He was proud to have served as an Army tank commander during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Canandaigua High School, was a member of St. Padre Pio Parish, Our Lady of Fatima Worship Site and was a lifetime member of the Elba Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, Marguerite P. (Park) Goff, whom he married September 17, 1955; 2 sons, Stephen Goff of Elba and James (Ellen) Goff of Oakfield; a daughter, Lorie (Greg Frielinghaus) Goff of Rochester; a sister, Margaret Rex of Canandaigua; 2 grandchildren, Jessica (Keith) Kertman of Palmyra and Elizabeth Goff of Oakfield; a great-grandchild, Cali Kertman of Palmyra; a sister-in-law, Betty Monangan of Elba; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of 4 deceased sisters. Friends may call on Tuesday from 1-3 & 6-8 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co, Funeral Home, 403 E. Bergen – Norma W. O’Connor, 88, of Bergen, a Program Assistant at Gillam Grant Community Center in Bergen, died Monday, January 19, 2015 at her home. Mrs. O’Connor was born October 3, 1926 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Joseph L. and Cecelia (Romasser) Williams. She was a lifetime member of St. James Episcopal Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the YWCA Comrade Club and former den mother of the Cub Scout Pack at the Bergen First Presbyterian Church. She was the secretary of the Genesee County Office of the Aging’s Genesee Senior Foundation, Inc. and formerly worked at the Genesee County Cornell Cooperative Extension for 12 years. Her husband, John L. O’Connor, Sr., died April 27, 2001. Survivors include 2 sons, John L. (Cynthia) O’Connor Jr. of Brockport and David M. O’Connor of Bergen; 2 brothers; Ronald J. Williams of Batavia and John Carl (Sharon) Williams of Rochester; a sister, JoAnn (Thomas) Saltsgiver of Williamsport, PA; grandchildren, Khristina (Joel) Scoggins, John O’Connor III, David (Nicole) O’Connor Jr., Shawn O’Connor and Matthew O’Connor; a great-grandson, Jackson Warren O’Connor; nieces and nephews, Christine (David) O’Geen of Batavia, Jennifer (David) Bertino of CO., Karen (Rob) Kistner of MA, Tracy (James) Pandina of Rochester, Richard (Melonie) Saltsgiver and Curtis (Lorie) Saltsgiver, all of PA; several great-nieces and great-nephews and a sister-in-law Kaye Gill of Brockport. Clara S. Rossi, 86, of LeRoy, died Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Clara was born January 31, 1928 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Victoria (Spina) Tessitore. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Parish and a floor worker at the former Lawless Container. Survivors include her husband, Peter I. Rossi, of LeRoy, whom she married May 15, 1948; two sons, Frank A. (Barbara) Rossi of Kansas City, MO and Peter M. (Beverly) Rossi of Arizona; one grandson, Frank Rossi of Webster; one granddaughter, Alexandria Rossi of Arizona; one great-granddaughter, Ashlee Rossi of Gates; one sister, Mafalda Calarco of Batavia and nieces and nephews. She is a sister of the late Joseph Tessitore, Jennie LaFarnara, Cecilia Ball, Rose Pellegrino, Angeline Falcone and Helen Pellegrino. There are no prior calling hours. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph`s Oratory, 27 Lake Street, LeRoy. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, LeRoy. Batavia – Ruth L. Baubie, 89, of Oakfield, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2015 at the Genesee County Nursing Home with her family by her side. She was born on August 8, 1925 in Oakfield, to the late Russell and Florence (Heffer) McClurg. She was an employee of the P.W. Minor Shoe Factory prior to her retirement. Ruth was a “Lady of the back row” of the Oakfield Methodist Church, volunteering for many events and functions at the church. Her greatest joy was spending time with her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her husband, Alvin K. Baubie, died July 2, 1989. Survivors include 5 daughters, Joyce (late James) Stevens, Marie (late Frank) Spiotta, Carol (Michael) Rich, Patricia Baubie and Linda (Bernard) Luthart; 8 grandchildren, Jeffrey (Rhonda) Stevens, Gary (Molly) Stevens, Frank (Sue) Spiotta, Anthony (Debbie) Spiotta, Timothy (Susan) Spiotta, Deborah (David) Lawrence, Scott (Vienna) Rich and Jennifer Mana; a brother, Ray (late Sophie) McClurg; 2 sisters, June (late Dan) Stack and Lois (Ed) Schutt; a sister-in-law, Ethel McClurg; 15 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was the loving grandmother to the late Kristi Luthart and was preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth (Shirley) McClurg, Ralph (Arlene) McClurg and Everett McClurg. Her daughters would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff members of the Genesee County Nursing Home, especially to the nurses and aides in Unit 1, for the loving care they gave while she was a resident there. Oakfield – John J. Gapa, 82, of Oakfield, passed away Wednesday, (January 21, 2015) at United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia. Mr. Gapa was born October 26, 1932 in Merriam, KS. He served in the United States Air Force from 1954-1958 and was a member of the Allegany American Legion. He was past Allegany County Commander and Oratorical Chairman; past Cattaraugus County Adjutant and Oratorical Chairman; past Post Commander of Charles Harbel Post #892 in Allegany and Post Legionnaire of the year in 1998. John was a retired lab technician at Henkle-Lucite Corp. (formerly Hysol). He helped set up the Olean industrial slow pitch soft ball league and was a manager of the Hysol softball team. He is the husband of the late Theresa Ann (Alaimo) Gapa who died 1984. John is survived by his children, Susan (Kevin) Bradt of Oakfield, Glen (Sandra) Gapa of Lyndonville, Philip Gapa of Bolivar, Thomas Gapa of Olean, and Marcella (Ronald) Price of Kannapolis, NC; three sisters, Mary Morris of Maple Valley, WA, Anne (John) Bustard of Edmonds, WA, Abbey Spencer of Olathe, KS. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. He is preceded in death by five siblings. Elba – Ira R. McCoy, Sr., 79, of Elba, a retiree of National Fuel Gas, passed away Friday, (January 23, 2015) at United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia. Mr. McCoy was born May 8, 1935 in Valles Creek, WV, a son of the late Carl W. and Virtie Virginia (Simms) McCoy. Ira served honorably with the Army National Guard and was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He loved to tell jokes, watch western movies, work crossword and Sudoku puzzles and was an avid reader. He enjoyed doing genealogy and spending time with his Yorkie, Bo. His wife, children, and grandchildren were the loves of his life. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor (Washburn) McCoy, whom he married March 26, 1955. Surviving along with his wife are his children, Ira (Sandy) McCoy, Jr. of Elba, and Timothy S. (Kimberly) McCoy of OK; grandchildren, Adam (Lisa) McCoy of Batavia, Nichole (Brandon) Douglas of LeRoy, and Joshua McCoy of OK; great-grandsons, Cody McCoy of Batavia, and Isaac Douglas of LeRoy; a sister, Dorothy (Paul) Rowcliffe of NV; a brother-in-law, Frank (Carolyn) Wandryk of Batavia. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Ira is preceded in death by two sons, Daniel and Terry McCoy; and a sister, Delores Wandryk. Alphonse Spiotta, 84, of Batavia, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Alphonse was born April 14, 1930 in Batavia, a son of the late Michael and Mary Spiotta. He was a machinist/tool maker at Batavia Machine & Tool and was a veteran, serving with the United States Army. Alphonse was a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, Sportsman Coon Hunters Association and the former St. Nick’s Club. He enjoyed gardening and coon hunting. Alphonse was family oriented and he enjoyed watching his grandson’s sporting events. He loved dogs and was known for his peppers and onions that he would bring to family reunions. Survivors include one son, Alan (Linda) Spiotta of Corfu; one daughter, Karen Spiotta of Batavia; two grandsons, Jason (Kristy) Spiotta of Hatboro, PA and Trevor Spiotta of Corfu; two great-granddaughters, Katie Spiotta and Molly Spiotta; one sister, Rose Ruhlman of Batavia and several nieces and nephews. Alphonse is predeceased by his wife, Joan Spiotta. He is a brother of the late John Spiotta, Frank Spiotta, Anthony Spiotta, Julia Queal, Dominic Spiotta, Anna Spiotta, Frances VanValkenburg and Michael Spiotta. He is survived by his wife, Donna J. Albion – Barbara Jean Bruski Gaines, of the family of Gertrude and Stanley Bruski has had her address changed when she went home to be with the Lord, Jesus Christ. Do not cry, Rejoice and be glad for this is the day the Lord has made. No more pain or suffering. Only Peace not as the world gives, but peace from God that goes beyond understanding. Barb is the devoted wife of 37 years to Donald C. Gaines, Jr.; though they have been together for 40 years; beloved sister of Patricia Ingle; aunt to Ann Knaak and great-aunt of Kendall and Griffin Knaak. She loved to be in church and to be active in the Crossroads program where prisoners are encouraged to participate in a bible study program. Letters are sent all over the country to those who participate in the C.B.I. publishing center program. Don would like to express his gratitude to all who prayed and sent gifts and cards and all of the people at the hospitals of Strong West and Unity Hospital at the emergency department, the Intensive Care Unit, the oncology department and staff and everyone else that makes up the teams of workers that do such a wonderful job to ease our pain and the suffering of losing a loved one. Mrs. Cole was born April 13, 1954 in Medina, a daughter of the late Buck and Lorraine Boyd. She loved to play bingo and spend time with her family. Linda greatly enjoyed jewelry and was a longtime friend of Bill W. Her husband, Roger Cole passed away in 2014. Surviving are her children, Amy (Stephen) Wolfe and John Hertz both of Batavia; a brother, Ernest Boyd of Florida; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Brockport – Matthew Kevin Greenman, 43, of Brockport, passed away unexpectedly Friday, (February 6, 2015) at his home, in Brockport. Mr. Greenman was born October 19, 1971 in Batavia, a son of Liz (Fritz) Rowsick of Bergen and the late Clinton R. Greenman. Matthew was a man of faith and could be described as a genuine, energetic, enthusiastic man who was always thinking. He was a friend of Bill W. and greatly enjoyed coaching youth baseball. He loved to spend time outside; camping, biking, playing disc golf and swimming with his kids. A genuine sports fan, he enjoyed cheering on Tony Stewart, the Buffalo Bills and the Yankees. Surviving along with his mother are his children, Jacob, Joshua, and Moriah Greenman all of Brockport; siblings, Ronald (Dawn) Greenman of Baltimore, MD, David (Patricia) VanValkenburg of Saugerties, John (Jennifer) Greenman of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Donna (Garth) Howard of Caledonia, and Daniel (Jennifer) VanValkenburg of Bergen. Neal was born September 30, 1939 in Batavia, a son of the late Edward and Marion (Hoy) Dickes. Neal was an avid gardener and he retired from Davenport Tool & Die. He is survived by his wife, Sharon (VanWyngaarden) Dickes, whom he married February 16, 1963; two sons, Peter Dickes and Edward Dickes; one daughter, Kimberly (Scott) Keene; grandchildren, Jenna Dickes-Deleo, Christine Dickes, Beth Dickes, SPC Garet (Alexandra) Keene, Samantha Keene and Zach Dickes; one great-grandchild, Christian Finch; brothers, Thomas (Sandra) Dickes, Terry (Peggy) Dickes and Lynda Dickes and many dear nieces and nephews. Charlotte B. Schultz passed away peacefully at the Village Green nursing home in LeRoy, NY on February 14th 2015. She was ninety two. Born on December 17th 1922, she was the daughter of Clarence L. (Pete) and Marion A. Buchholtz. She was a graduate of the University of Rochester, earning a degree in Sociology before becoming a Social Worker for Genesee County. An accomplished golfer, Charlotte was the first woman to record a hole in one at Stafford Country Club and added another, acted as captain of the Travis Cup Team, and won the Women’s Club Championship nine times. She is an Honorary Member of Stafford Country Club. Charlotte was also an active member in the Batavia community, volunteering for the Genesee Memorial Hospital, and serving on the Alter Guild at St. James Church. Charlotte is survived by: her sister, Helen B. Church of LeRoy, NY, her two sons, Lawrence H. Schultz III, and wife Melissa of Germantown, MD and Peter G. Schultz, and wife Caroline of LeRoy, NY, and her five grandchildren, Rachael C. Schultz, Russell T. Schultz, Audrey M. Schultz, Lauren R. Schultz, Marshall L. Schultz and niece, Charlotte N. Church, and husband Jon Gaines of Bronxville, NY. She will be remembered for her trademark wit and her unerring devotion to family and friends. Services will be announced at a later date. Mrs. Boyd was born May 16, 1952 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Jesse Manes and Louise Gray Manes Stevens. She enjoyed going to the casino and Las Vegas with her husband and sisters. Jessie will be remembered by her family as a prankster. She faithfully attended her grandson’s sports activities, enjoyed going to bingo and loved taking walks with her dog, Gizzy. She enjoyed working with individuals as a residential aide at the Genesee County ARC. She is survived by her husband, Donald R. Boyd, whom she married December 25, 1980; her children, Thomas Satkowski of Erlanger, Kentucky and Amanda (Fiancé Marques Huston) Boyd of Oakfield; two grandchildren, Samantha Satkowski and Tayvon Boyd; a brother, Donald Manes of Oakfield; five sisters, Brenda Baker of Oakfield, Linda (Damian) Mangee of Batavia, Joyce Rapone of Batavia, Denise (Mark) Bischoff of Oakfield and Michelle (Barry) Shade of Byron; her sister-in-law, Barbara Greck of Batavia; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister Sandy (Frank) Mathe. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Avenue, Oakfield, where Jessie’s services will follow at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Cary Cemetery. LeRoy – John W. Metzler, age 66, of LeRoy, passed away on February 22, 2015 at the Wilmot Cancer Center of Strong Memorial Hospital, in Rochester. He was born in Batavia, New York and was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Dorothy Metzler of LeRoy and infant twin sisters. He was a self-employed mason prior to his retirement and lived most of his life in LeRoy. He is survived by a son, Michael (Lisa) Metzler of Rochester and grandchildren, Alyse and Michael, Jr. He is also survived by a brother, David (Mary) Metzler and nieces, Elizabeth (Marcus) Gallo of Broadview Heights, Ohio and Meredith Metzler of Los Angeles, California and nephew, Peter (Katie) Metzler of Batavia. There are no prior visiting hours. A memorial service will announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in John’s name may be made to Genesee Cancer Assistance, 16 Bank Street, Batavia, New York 14020 or to the Wilmot Cancer Center of Strong Memorial Hospital, Attn: Office of Gift and Donor Records, P.O.
